Masters for S&T
I graduated college last June and have had no success in the job market since then and have decided to pursue a masters starting in the 2021-2022 academic year. I wanted to know what the best plan for me would be.
My background:
Graduated from a US News T15 in June 2019 with a BA in Mathematics in three years (20 years old on graduation) with a 3.5 GPA.
No work exp, ended up getting a job as a truck driver in Manhattan to try to make ends meet in the meantime.
Have been studying for the GMAT for awhile, haven't taken an official test but have been averaging in the mid 700s on mocks gotten a 770 on a Veritas mock.
My dream job would beS&Ton some sort of exotics desk. I have exposure from school to mathematical option theory. The plan as of now is to try to find some sort of internship or job that can serve as a testament to my working ability and apply R1 to some schools in September. Looking for general advice on courses of action. I'm looking to apply mostly at European Bschools.
A few questions I have:
What is the best course of action to take with respect to getting work experience both for getting into school and for getting internship/job offers from within a masters program?
What might the outcome differences be forS&Tin aMSFvs MiM program?
Will I be able to get sponsorship to work in London? And how will I be advantaged/disadvantaged trying to recruit in London vs NY?
Programs I'm looking to apply to:
Oxford MFE
LSEMsc Finance
MITMSF
Imperial Msc Finance
Bocconi Msc Finance
ESADE Msc Finance
HEC MiM/ESCP MiM (Join a School in France)
EDHEC MiM

Might as well also do Princeton MFE. you never know.
Most MFE programs I think lend to S/T now if they actually place I am unsure.
I guess my biggest worry then is getting in to the Masters and getting offers without the proper WE
They post the student profiles and you could linkedin stalk. they don't publish the same Data asMBAs
Probably the majority as it looks from a Linkedin stalk have relevant internships. Otherwise hard to tell what other hooks they could have
An incoming MIT MFin student. I actually have a very similar background to you just different year. I know MFins here have no problem recruiting at London if that's your end goal.
