IB at a Non-Target Southeastern School

Hello all,

I'm currently a senior in high school and I am beginning to apply to colleges. I plan to major in Business Administration with a minor in Economics. I've applied to a few schools including Clemson and UVA. Clemson is currently my top choice because the amount of debt from UVA would be enormous, but I'm concerned that pursuing a career inIBout of Clemson would be near impossible. However, I've done a ton of research and Clemson has a growingIBprogram with multiple clubs, they've sent a few students toSuntrust Robinson Humphreyin ATL and I know of atleast one student who has landed a job atGSChicago afterSA. Is there any way I can see how many students from Clemson have actually became a analyst InIB/PE/HF? On top of this do you guys have any recommendations on how to break in from Clemson?

Do a quick LinkedIn search on Clemson Alumni to see who's working in what industry. Regarding Clemson vs UVA, Virginia significantly better at placing students on Wall Street, however I don't think it's impossible coming from Clemson. If you decide to go to Clemson, you need to get involved in a student investment group ASAP, maintain top grades, and network your ass off. Clemson will also probably place more kids in regionalMMsor botiques rather thanNYC, so you'll have to consider that as well. I got to a non-target ACC school in the southeast as well, andIBis definitely doable, it will just be an uphill climb in contrast to going to UVA.

Thanks, I've thought about doing a Linkedin search but can't figure out if I need a recruiter account to do it. I plan on staying in a southeast regional rather than moving toNYCor a larger city, which makes Clemson a little more plausible.

Wake Forest is nice, however it is just as expensive as UVA. UNC would be excellent to go to because it's a larger target, however they rarely accept people from out of state. Did some research and only 18% of enrolled freshman in UNC's system are from out of state.

Hey man former Clemson student here. To get intoIBfrom Clemson it is completely on you.It will require hundreds of networking emails to get on calls, knowing your technicals and join one of the clubs but to be honest they are not very helpful. Also 90% of the Truist people go to the credit delivery team which recruits on campus but is not trueIB, it's more like CB bit is grouped with CIB. The only way I was able to get any interviews was through networking and I was able to get about 10 first rounds and convert to aMMfirm. Expect most people to not answer your emails. On the flip side though I have found almost all Clemson alum to be helpful and pull for you since there is such a limited number in banking. Feel free to PM me and I can provide more insight. Oh and it's a great time.

What state are you from? If you're from SC, go to USC and do their international business major. Significantly better placement than Clemson.

I've thought about USC alot, already sent in a application. Does having a major in business management rather than finance or econ at a non target school effect my chances of getting into IB? I would have a minor in econ if I was to major in Business Management.
